Flex Fuel Awareness Campaign Completes Mid-Atlantic Road Show Promoting High Level Ethanol Blends

Date Posted: December 1, 2014

Nov. 28, 2014: The FlexFuel Awareness Campaign completed a highly successful tour of several key locations in Maryland and Virginia last week as part of the Mid Atlantic Alternative Fuel Road Show.

The tour featured exhibits and workshops providing information to fleet operators, consumers, and the media on the range of alternative fuels available in today’s market place.

The FlexFuel Awareness Campaign focuses on the message that high level ethanol blends and FlexFuel Vehicles (FFVs ) are an option for private and government fleets as well as individual consumers, and that they can be very competitive among the family of legally defined alternative fuels.

All vehicles can operate on E15 and these FFVs can also operate on mid- level blends like E30 as well as E85.

Clean Fuels Executive Director Doug Durante said “This is about clean air, consumer choice, and energy independence.

In the case of flex fuels this is an easy, immediate choice we can make to take advantage of the 20 million FFVs in use by fleets and consumers.”

Durante said that many of the city and fleet managers they meet with are very interested in getting a better understanding of the options that FlexFuel Vehicles provide, including being able to use any combination of gasoline ethanol blends from E15 to E85.

The ethanol portion of the program was sponsored by Growth Energy, The Nebraska Ethanol Board, the Kansas, Maryland, and Nebraska Grain and Corn Boards, Ethanol Products, Lallemand Biofuels and Distilled Spirits, and the Clean Fuels Development Coalition.
